On April 17, 2025, the 8th Central Plains Carbon Valley Development Forum, hosted by the Institute of Climate Change and Carbon Neutrality of Zhengzhou University of Technology and co-organized by the School of Management, was successfully held. Jiang Dongmei, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Zhengzhou University of Technology, attended the forum, which was chaired by Wu Yujuan, Deputy Dean of the School of Management.

The forum specially invited Dr. Pei Qing from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University to present a keynote lecture titled "Bayesian Reconstruction of Precipitation in Northwestern China."

The report highlighted innovative applications of Bayesian statistical methods in historical climate reconstruction, delving into methodologies for integrating historical documentary records with modern climate models. It showcased cutting-edge interdisciplinary advances and demonstrated tremendous potential in climate change research. The report demonstrates rigorous content and advanced methodologies, fully embodying a research approach that achieves deep integration between natural sciences and humanities disciplines.

In conclusion, Vice President Jiang Dongmei highlighted Dr. Pei's profoundly inspiring personal journey. She underscored that failures in scientific research represent invaluable assets, functioning as critical junctures for recalibration and experiential learning. Furthermore, she urged both teachers and students to emulate Dr. Pei's exemplary approach by actively engaging in interdisciplinary research, boldly transcending disciplinary confines, exploring intersections across fields with an open mindset, igniting a passion for science, and striving to become exceptional scientists who advance academia and contribute to societal development.

This forum has not only broadened our teachers' and students' understanding of Bayesian methods in practical research, but has also inspired the School of Management to explore integrated research approaches that combine "data-driven decision support" with "humanities-informed scientific communication."
